Also featured at the celebration will be tons of entertainment, arts and crafts, kids’ activities, and live musical performances. Special guests for the event include singer/songwriter Shannon Tanner, while kids will also get to see the beloved Cappy the Clown! Fireworks begin as soon as it gets dark, so be sure to get there while there’s still some sunlight.

Looking to get in a good holiday sweat? Try your hand at the Firecracker 5000! See the scenic side of Hilton Head. The race begins at Honey Horn Park, taking you through a mostly flat course that mixes gravel and paved roads, giving racers a great blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. Take an America 250 Hilton Head History Cruise

Step back in time with this historical journey through the waters aboard the Vagabond. Celebrate A250 with this historical cruise featuring presentations and stories from several costumed lecturers, guiding you through topics such as the American Revolution, coastal defenses, local settlements, and Hilton Head's role in our fight for independence. Adding to this one-of-a-kind experience is its placement on the water, where guides will point out exact spots and their connection to the events of the revolution. This historical and immersive experience is great for anyone with an interest in history, families, or anyone looking to try something new during their holiday trip to Hilton Head.
Explore Revolutionary War History Around Hilton Head
The great thing about coming to a place like Hilton Head is that, even without the celebration, there’s plenty of rich history in the area, with a strong connection to the American Revolution.
Zion Chapel of Ease Cemetery

Explore Hilton Head's local heritage at this historic cemetery, completed in 1788. While established well after the war, the cemetery is significant for being the final resting place of four American Patriots who fought in the Revolution, including Charles Davant, the only known Patriot killed in action on the island. While you’re there, be sure to check out the famous Barnyard Mausoleum.
Revolutionary War Ambush Marker
The historical marker is at Mathews Drive and William Hilton Parkway, and marks the spot where Charles Devant was attacked by an ambush before later dying at a nearby plantation at Two Oaks. This is a great spot to visit, either right before or after Zion Chapel of Ease, because of its connection to Charles Davant.
Bloody Point and the 1775 Gunpowder Seizure on Daufuskie Island

While this spot requires a ferry ride to reach, it is also one of the area’s strongest historical sites due to its connection to the 1775 gunpowder seizure known as the Philippa Affair. Near Bloody Point, the Patriot militia intercepted the British ship HMS Philippa and seized gunpowder and other supplies on their way to Savannah. Some of that powder later reached Boston during the Siege and helped supply George Washington’s army. While there, you can visit the Bloody Point Lighthouse Museum to further explore the island’s local history.
Attend the Bluffton 250 Celebration Flag Ceremony
On July 2 in Bluffton, the Sons of the American Revolution will host the A250 flag ceremony. Join them at Veterans Memorial Park at Buckwalter Place Park in a celebration and commemoration of America’s founding and the local area’s connection to the struggle for independence. This is a quick and easy event for anyone looking to get into the celebration before the actual day.
