December 2025 - May 2026: Palmetto Dunes, Forest Beach, and Sea Pines Beach Renourishment.
Update: By Late March, crews anticipate mobilizing in the South Beach area of Sea Pines and Palmetto Dunes and Forest Beach should be completed.
Ever wondered how Hilton Head Island’s beaches stay wide, clean, and beautiful year after year? The answer is periodic beach renourishment. This process involves transporting sand from offshore sources to sections of the shoreline that are more prone to erosion from wind and tidal activity. It’s a critical effort that typically happens every 8 to 10 years to help preserve the island’s coastline, and the next project is set to begin in summer 2025.
