December 2025 - June 2026: Palmetto Dunes, Forest Beach, and Sea Pines Beach Renourishment.
Update: As of June 10th, renourishment efforts have been completed and crews are breaking down operations and removing equipment and materials from the beach.
Ever wondered how Hilton Head Island’s beaches stay wide, clean, and beautiful year after year? The answer is periodic beach renourishment. This process involves transporting sand from offshore sources to sections of the shoreline that are more prone to erosion from wind and tidal activity. It’s a critical effort that typically happens every 8 to 10 years to help preserve the island’s coastline, and the next project is set to begin in summer 2025.
