"PARADISE FOUND! Debby and I first discovered Hilton Head after buying a week at a Sea Pines home at a charity auction in 1998. We knew of Hilton Head as a golf resort, but were totally hooked by the beautiful beaches, low country scenery, bike paths, boating, shopping, restaurants and best of all, the warm and friendly people. Within 3 years we had bought our first house (too small), then a second house (too big), and finally, we sold those to build our “Goldilocks” home (its just right!). We assembled what Debby refers to as our ”Dream Team”: realtor Nancy Presley, architect Neil Gordon, builder Mike Morgan, interior designer, Dean Huntley, and Destination Vacation, the best vacation home managers on the island.
By the time we built 2 Sprunt Pond, we knew how we lived on Hilton Head and with Debby’s vision, our “team” totally nailed it. We wanted to be near the beach (a very short par 4 away), stunning scenery (water views from every room), and a flowing floor plan that would match our casual lifestyle and be great for entertaining. Debby wanted spacious bedrooms with spa-like bathrooms, plenty of room for our grandkids to play and sleep, and an open floor plan with a gourmet kitchen. I wanted the great views and a big pool and spa. My pride and joy is the outdoor man-cave with a fireplace, TV, outdoor kitchen, and plenty of space for relaxing with friends.
We love sharing our home with our grown children, five grandkids, and friends. Whether we have our extended family, 3 or 4 couples, or a group of golfing buddies, we have plenty of room for everyone. Our families have fallen in love with 2 Sprunt Pond and Hilton Head Island. Our only problem is that our grandkids don’t understand why WE go to “Nana’s beach house” without THEM. How could that possibly be fun?
Now, we’ve come full circle - we donate a week each year at Sprunt Pond to a foundation dear to our hearts that raises money to fight pancreatic cancer."
