Oceanside Hilton Head Rentals

A unique characteristic of Hilton Head Island is the layout of “Oceanside” homes and “T-Streets.” Oceanside refers to properties that are located within walking distance to the beach without having to cross a major road or thoroughfare. The first Oceanside homes were developed on T-Streets in the 1950s during Charles Fraser’s development of Sea Pines Resort. The horizontal line at the top of the “T” represents the 1st Row of homes directly on the beach, known as Ocean Front homes, and neighboring homes were developed in order of parallel lines, called Rows (2nd Row, 3rd Row, etc.), all the way to the beginning of the street, or bottom of the “T.”

Oceanside also refers to the Beach Lagoon neighborhood of homes and Turtle Lane Club complex of condominiums and townhomes. While these neighborhoods are not located on T-Streets, they are located within walking distance to the beach without having to cross any major roads or thoroughfares.

Forest Beach, the T-Streets are named after birds and in Palmetto Dunes they are named with a nautical theme.
